Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 19, 2026

Dataxel ("we", "our", or "us") is a privacy-first, browser-based spreadsheet analysis tool.

We built Dataxel so you can analyze your spreadsheets intelligently without giving your data to us. This privacy policy explains what we access, what stays local, and how we protect your information.

1. Overview

Dataxel is designed so that your spreadsheet data never leaves your browser.

We do not store, view, or collect the contents of your files.

All processing—including loading your data, understanding its structure, running queries, and generating charts—happens entirely on your device. Your data stays with you.

2. Information We Access

2.1 Google Sheets

If you connect Google Sheets, Dataxel requests read-only permissions. This means we can view your spreadsheets to help you analyze them, but we cannot make any changes.

We only access:

  • Basic information about your spreadsheets (names, structure)
  • Column names and types
  • The data needed to answer your questions

Your Google account connection is stored only in your browser. You can disconnect it at any time.

We do not store or access your Google account credentials on our servers.

2.2 Files You Upload

If you upload CSV or Excel files:

  • The file is processed entirely in your browser
  • The file never uploads to our servers
  • File information may be saved locally on your device for your convenience
  • You can delete this information at any time

3. Information We Never Collect

We do not collect or store:

  • Your spreadsheet rows or cell contents
  • Files you upload
  • Your questions, answers, or insights
  • Personal information (names, emails, addresses, IDs, etc.)
  • Financial, medical, or sensitive content
  • Any raw data from your analysis

Your data is never sent to us.

4. How We Use AI

When Dataxel helps answer your questions or generate insights:

  • We only send safe summaries and statistical information—never your actual data rows
  • We do not send personal information, names, emails, or sensitive values
  • You control what information can be shared through settings in the app

The AI systems we use never see your actual spreadsheet data.

5. Information Stored on Your Device

Dataxel may save information on your device to make the app work better for you:

  • Information about your files (so you don't have to reconnect every time)
  • Your preferences (like theme settings and display options)

This information stays on your device only. You can clear it anytime through your browser settings.

6. Analytics

We currently do not collect any analytics tied to your data or questions.

We may collect anonymous information about how the app is used (like which features are popular) to improve the product.

This information never includes your spreadsheet contents, personal information, or uploaded files.

7. Third-Party Services

Dataxel works with:

  • Google (for connecting to Google Sheets)
  • AI service providers (for helping answer questions using only safe summaries)

We do not share your personal data or spreadsheet content with these services.

8. Your Rights

You can:

  • Disconnect Google Sheets at any time
  • Delete information stored on your device
  • Clear all data through your browser settings
  • Contact us with questions about privacy

Because we don't store your data on our servers, you have complete control. Your data always stays with you.

9. Children's Privacy

Dataxel is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves.

We will update the "Last Updated" date when we make changes.
